Biblical Womanhood: God Still Requires Our Obedience

Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. – Proverbs 31:30

God has called me out. I don’t know where He is going to take me in this, but I will be obedient and I know He will bless the fruit of my hands in doing so.

Biblical womanhood is an avoided topic in this day and age. Hence, I said biblical womanhood. And any woman of God teaching on it is not usually popular and any man of God teaching on it actually is remarkably popular – popularly bashed. But here’s the thing, I have never been more blessed than when I surrendered my way and my will to God’s way and His will for my life. I’m sure many of you have been with me since my blog and Facebook page was named the The Prodigal Daughter and then The Redeemed Daughter. And, dearly beloved, I pray you stay with me as I transition to The Redeemed Wife to teach thoroughly on biblical womanhood. Including, but not limited to, being a Godly woman, wife, mother, and servant of Christ. If you know anything about me you know I have no issue addressing the hard topics – and this will be without a doubt a hard (but a blessing even more) talking point for majority of you because we are in the day of “Men bad. Women strong. No need man.” Yes, read it in that barbaric, foolish voice. Because foolish is exactly what it is.

The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. – Titus 2:3-5

I won’t break this down today and neither the other many scriptures that discuss what a biblical woman looks like in every way – but, older women, this is our duty. None exempt. For now, I want every woman reading this (as from now on every post of this blog will be exclusively only written to growing girls, young ladies, and women) to meditate on that first verse at the top of this blog.

Worldly favor is deceitful. Your likes and followers on social media? Deceitful. Your worldly accomplishments and accolades? Deceitful. Your large group of friends and connections? Deceitful. And beauty is vain. Your outside allure and physical attractiveness/appearance? Vain. Fading. Worthless. Gravity is not our friend, ladies! I joke – but I’m serious. Just remember, from dust we came and to dust we will return. This life is only but a vapor. As Apostle Peter wrote and God tells us in 2 Peter 3:3-4, “Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.” And the most important part of the focus verse this week, BUT a woman that fears the Lord, she will be praised… What is better than being upright in the Lord’s sight and praised by your Heavenly Father who loves you more than you will ever know for no reason of your own, and all because you truly loved Him and showed it by your reverence for Him and obedience to Him because your faith rested in Him and in Him alone.

Let us grow together in the Lord. The God of all creation still requires our obedience. I will not be teaching to men or on men because that would be out of order, so refrain from “The what about men” comments on the blogs to come. God has sent me to you, sister. And if we can all come humbly in Spirit and in truth to scripture as it is and lay aside our own desires, egos, and flesh, we will begin to see the unshakable, unmovable, and unchangeable beauty of who God has created and called us to be in Him. I love you because Christ does – and I must feed His sheep regardless of what may come. I look forward to going and growing in depth on these topics. I don’t have all the answers, but in Christ I have all the answers I need. You want a blessed singleness season, marriage life, motherhood, or just overall walk with God? Surrender. Right now. And see you back here same time next week as we deepen our understanding of the beautiful, gentle, virtuous, peculiar, submissive, nurturing, and altogether marvelous women God has called us to be.

Much love,

Alicia – The Redeemed Wife

  1. That is so good and so beautifully expressed! We find our highest joy and ultimate satisfaction in obedience to Him who loves us and created us for His pleasure!

  2. I fully agree with you my sister …I believe God has called us to be unique and peculiar .are we allowed to teach our sons Gods word if we are single mums?

    1. Absolutely! We are to train our children up, mama, even at home. Even if no man is around our command to love for our children does not change and we love them by sharing Christ. and setting an example. If possible, and if you aren’t already, find a good church with a Bible preaching man for a pastor to minister to both you and your son as well. As your son as he gets older will need this. You cannot set the example of a Godly man, but you can teach him of the ones of theBible and can as a mother you can point him in the direction of one living it out.
